Participants hear the remarkable story of the renewal of the shuk while drinking their way through our Contemporary Art installation by our four leading women artists based in Jerusalem.
It is not only that Jewish discourse is more vivid, but also that new participants are now taking part in it. Watershed Moments demonstrates how artists, and art, can become part of the discussion usually dominated by academics, rabbis and politicians.
The exhibition In The East presents its converse: all of the artists are active in the local, Levantine, Middle East. A close look at the oeuvre of each artist raises questions about contemporary understandings of “East” and “West” with their geographic, social, and cultural aspects, raising a complicated and not necessarily coherent picture of Israeli art and its relationship to the global art field.
