Contemporary Ethiopian-Israeli Art

As our last event of PHASEs 2.0, we held an exhibition in tribute to Ethiopian culture. Held in a private home in Jerusalem the main theme of his event was; What is contemporary Israeli-Ethiopian art? With the support of the Jerusalem Foundation we created this event in honor and memory of the talented creator and multi-activist Yaia Samaon Mehri, we held a conversation with artists Moshe Tarka and Ephraim Wassa. To complement the discussion is an inspirational ensemble by the soloist artist Haven Mesha and delicious food by Chef Elazar Tamno.

Within the framework of the PHASEs 2.0 project supported by the Jerusalem Foundation’s 2022 Innovation Fund, is two evenings of multidisciplinary art. This festive cross-cultural event presented so many artists such as; Sobhiya Hassan Keis, Rezan Shami, Aya Eliav, Liat Danieli, and Sda Gadir.
Within the exhibition, there were many different experiences to take part in. There was a Sincilla tour explaining how to turn private roofs into blooming gardens, as well as a traditional flamenco performance. Included as well is women from the east of the city that discussed how they set up beehives at home, allowing them to produce homemade fresh honey.
