#TakeMeHome

The 2021 Jerusalem Biennale will take place between November 11 and December 30 under the title Four Cubits. This title will allow us to explore the ways in which art can function in private space: in our living room, kitchen, bedroom, office or studio. The largest project of JB2021, Take Me Home, will be showing at the historic Shaa'rey Tzedek Venue - the Biennale's new home. Dozens of contemporary artists will exhibit artworks that, come the end of the 2021 Biennale, might just end up in someone's home.

הביאנלה של ירושלים תתקיים בין התאריכים 11/11/2021 ועד 30/12/2021 תחת הכותרת ארבע אמות. העיסוק המרכזי של הביאנלה השנה הוא באופן שבו אמנות מתפקדת במרחבים פרטיים: בסלון שלנו, במטבח, בחדר השינה, במשרד ובסטודיו. הפרויקט הגדול ביותר של ביאנלה 2021 קח אותי הביתה יתקיים במתחם שערי צדק הישן - ביתה החדש של הביאנלה. במסגרתו, יוצגו עבודות אמנות של עשרות אמנים מקצועיים. עם סיום הביאנלה, חלקן יישלחו ויוצבו בבתים, משרדים וחללים פרטיים אחרים של מבקרי הביאנלה.

Call for Artists

The project Take Me Home requires artists to think about their art in a very specific way. Can it live in a private space? How does it function there? How might it affect the intimate space of an individual or a family? Moreover- can you release your artwork, or at list a small part of it, and suspend your relationship to it as your private property? The timing for such a conversation is perfect as we are in the beginning of the new Shmita year.

On the other hand, the project presents a challenge to the Biennale visitors: each one of them will be asked to choose one artwork that they would want to take home. Keeping aside money and price issues, at least for a while, allows a new kind of experience and a new kind of conversation about the role art might play in a person's Four Cubits.

Artists that are interested in participating in Take Me Home can submit up to three of their artworks through the online line form. The submissions should be sent no later than Friday October 1, 2021. The works will be collected in the beginning of November and presented at the JB2021 main venue and on the Biennale's publications.

Terms of Participation:

1. Each artist can submit up to three artworks.
2. The artist will fill in a separate form for each artwork.
3. The Biennale will approve/disapprove submissions
4. It is the responsibility of the artist to make sure the approved artwork(s) arrive at the doorstep of the gallery space in Jerusalem (161 Yafo St.) no later than November 1, 2021 at noon.
5. The works should be sent ready for installation.
6. Details of the work (Name of the artist, name of the work, year) will be attached to each work separately.
7. By submitting artwork(s), The artist acknowledges that the work(s) might be chosen to be installed in a private home. The artist agrees for an extended loan of six months after JB2021 closing event (December 30). Shipping and installation of the art will be in the responsibility of the Jerusalem Biennale.
8. In the case of a sale, within the Biennale or after the loan, the artist will receive 100% of the price paid.
9. At the end of JB2021, artists are responsible for collecting artworks that were not sold/sent on loan.
10. The artist gives the Biennale the right to use images of the works for purposes of advertising, marketing and public relations.

קול קורא לאמנים

הפרויקט קח אותי הביתה מבקש להעמיד בפני אומנים ויוצרים שאלות הנוגעות ליצירתם: האם היצירה שלכם יכולה להיות נוכחת במרחב פרטי? איך היא תתפקד במרחב אינטימי של פרט או משפחה? איזה חלק מיצירתכם, אם בכלל, יכול לחיות בבית של מישהו? וגם- האם אני מוכן לשמוט את היצירה שלי, או לפחות חלק קטן ממנה, ולהשעות לרגע את יחסי אליה כקניין הפרטי.

מצידו השני של אותו מטבע, הפרויקט מבקש להעמיד בפני מבקרי הביאנלה את האפשרות לקחת עבודת אמנות איתם הביתה. זאת, מבלי ששאלת מחיר היצירה והצורך לקנותה יהווה הסחת דעת או מכשול. ההתחמקות, גם אם היא זמנית, משאלות של מחיר וכסף תאפשר, כך אנו מקווים, חוויה חדשה ושיחה חדשה לגבי מקומה של אמנות בארבע אמות של אדם. כמובן שאין תזמון טוב יותר לכך מתחילתה של שנת השמיטה הבאה עלינו לטובה.

אמנים המעוניינים להשתתף בפרויקט מתבקשים לבחור עד 3 עבודות שלהם שאותן ירצו להציג במסגרת קח אותי הביתה ולשלוח לנו אותן עד 1 לאוקטובר 2021. העבודות יוצגו במתחם המרכזי של ביאנלה 2021 (בניין שערי צדק הישן) ויופיעו באתר ובפרסומים השונים של הביאנלה.

תנאי השתתפות:

1. האמן ימלא טופס מקוון לכל יצירה בנפרד ובו כל פרטי העבודה, לרבות מחיר מכירה.
2. כל אמן/ אמנית יוכלו להציע/להציג עד 3 עבודות.
3. הביאנלה תאשר את קבלת ההצעות.
4. באחריות האמן לוודא כי העבודות יגיעו לפתח הגלריה (יפו 161 ירושלים) לא יאוחר מה-1 בנובמבר, 2021 בשעה 12:00 בצהרים.
5. העבודות ישלחו כשהן מוכנות לתלייה/הצבה.
6. שם האמן ושם העבודה יצויין על כל אחת מהעבודות.
7. בהשתתפות בפרויקט, האמן מודע לכך שיש סיכוי שעבודתו תושאל לאחד ממבקרי הביאנלה לתקופה של 6 חודשים, ומסכים לכך. הובלת העבודות לבתים הפרטיים והתקנתן תתבצע על ידי הביאנלה ובאחריותה.
8. במקרה של מכירת העבודה, בין אם במהלך הביאנלה ובין אם לאחר תקופת ההשאלה, 100% ממחירה יהיה של האמן.
9. בתום הביאנלה (30/12/2021) יתקיים אירוע סיום. איסוף העבודות שלא נמכרו/הושאלו באחריות האמן.
10. האמן מקנה לביאנלה זכות להשתמש בצילומי העבודות לצרכי פרסום, שיווק ויחסי ציבור
